Sergeant Luke Bialczak, US Army veteran, is a co-founder and current Commander of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 12198.  Luke joined the Army in 2004 as an Infantryman. From 2005 to 2007 he was deployed to Baghdad, Iraq conducting combat operations around Sadier City. During this time the area was known as the deadliest place on earth.

He returned to Baghdad from 2008 to 2009 and was promoted to the rank of Sergeant and transferred to VIP security detail. During his time in the service Luke was awarded the Iraq Campaign Medal with four campaign stars, two Army Commendation Medals, two Army Overseas Service Ribbons, the Combat Infantry Badge, two Army Good Conduct Medals and the National Defense Service Medal.

In 2012 he was honorably retired due to combat injuries. After struggling for years to find his new place in life, he found it helping veterans in a Chicago VFW.  Luke said "Being around and helping other veterans has changed my life and given me a new purpose”.

In 2019 Luke and His wife Nicole married and moved to Las Vegas, NV where he wasted no time getting involved locally.  In 2020-2021 he led his VFW post to All American Status placing fifth on the west coast for veterans and community service. Luke Also Leads the Las Vegas Irreverent Warriors silkies hike. This is a military only suicide prevention hike. Luke stated "Suicide prevention is extremely important to me, because I have now lost more of my military brothers and sisters to suicide than when we were actively fighting in Iraq.  It broke my heart when I learned that and I knew I had to get involved.”

Luke’s goals are to continue to expand the VFW and their services here in Las Vegas. Striving to get a building of their own to provide a hub for veterans and other local military non-profits/ resources. Luke coordinates with many other local non-profits explaining, "we all have very similar goals. Working together we can help more people and make a bigger local impact”.

Luke continues to be Post Commander and was also elected Nevada Department Surgeon for 2024-2025.
